I work for a Private company in the US and we are planning to use the free version of API for commercial purpose in a Android app that will be used by our clients. Is the free version allowed to use for commercial purposes?
We are planning on using your API in one of our Android Apps and wanted to reach out to you to ask about the commercial usage, the legal terms and conditions of usage and clarify few other things as well.
If a free version can be allowed to use, I had questions as per below -
I am using the free version of API on a Android app and the same app is deployed on around 400 Android devices (this may increase in future) and each device will request weather data every 2 or 4 hours. Assuming there are 400 Android Devices, wanted to confirm with you if that will be considered as making more than 60 calls/min (which is the limit for free version).
If above is the case,is there a workaround or solution to this where I can use the free version on multiple devices ?
Thank you for request.
Due to license rules, you can freely use our products and data for non-commercial or commercial purposes and credit OpenWeatherMap as a weather data source in a visible part of your application.
If all of your devices will have the same update time(for example, 14:00, then 16:00 etc) this will cause exceeding. So you should set different update time on every device if you want to use free plan. For example, 60 devices at 14:00, next 60 – 14:01, etc…
