Low geographical resolution on forecasts

Caspar Aleksander Bang Jespersen Feb 13, 2018 11:37AM GMT

I am using the free API (5 days/3 hour forecast), and want to collect data for the Danish island, Zealand (around 100km by 120km). However, I want to collect in a grid (also over ocean), and not single cities. Therefore, I am using the latitude- and longitude coordinates as input, and simply sequentially retrieving the forecasts.

I find, however, that the data is extremely redundant, and essentially there is no advantage in a grid size larger than around 5 by 5. Also, it appears that for ocean coordinates it simply find the forecast of the nearest city.

Are my observations true/valid, or am I doing something wrong? How can I achieve a higher resolution?

Hello,

We provide data for more than 200000 locations. We do not provide marine weatehr consitions, only continent ones.

So, you cna check resolution using this API:

http://openweathermap.org/current#cycle

It is possible to check all locations around the specified point.
