Cities not found any more

Miha Nov 10, 2017 12:31PM UTC

a lot of the cities in Slovenia, that were available for weather search are now not found any more. Even on your web search they are not found anymore. Is there some sort of technical error, or is this how it is going to be from now on?
An example would be a place called Rakitna, that used to return the weather info.

Also for city names with our Slovene characters, the search does not find them anymore. Previously it was no problem searching for example for Krško, but this search now returns Not found. So you need to search for Krsko.
Is this also a bug, or is it gonna stay like that for the future?

I got the same problem in cities with Greek characters.
The curious thing is if I do many times refresh, then the city is found.
I did the test with Greek city "Χαλκίδα" which is "Chalkida" in English.

With a random times of refresh, "Χαλκίδα" is getting the results but most of the times returns not found.

Thank you in advance.

Urls with zip codes stopped working. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Yes, in addition to some smaller city names not found, I also have problems with not recognizing names with Latin letters. For example the place called Železniki was normally found before, but is now only found if you search for Zelezniki.

We've noticed it to some extent.

For one of our users, sometimes he can search by his province, sometimes not

Example: Sometimes Edmonton, AB will not work, and while it's not working, you can still find Edmonton,CA and just plain Edmonton. After about five minutes you can search by province again...

Check the following info:

Please stick to the format of request that described in the docs:

Do not write full name of the country. You can add just a country code:,PT&units=metric&appid=XXXX

We used to have some supporting functionality that was not documented. So, from now please focus on this types of requests.

Thanks for understanding.

Using "Lisbon" ou "Lisbon,PT", in english, works fine, searching the same city in portuguese "Lisboa", without the country code, also works well, but "Lisboa,PT" cannot be found.

It's the same for me : "Nonglard,fr"
It was working up to last week, and the closest village, "Lovagny,fr" is still working.

Best regards,

More cities no longer supported? YORK, NY&units=metric&mode=xml, ON&units=metric&mode=xml, ON&units=metric&mode=xml, IL&units=metric&mode=xml

I used to be able to pass in the State/Province short forms, but now have to use the Country code? There are multiple cities in these countries names the same, just in different states/provinces. If for example, I wanted the weather for Washington Iowa:

a. how would I even ask for it with the city name and country code

b. the way you have this now working, how would I know which Washington I was getting info back for?, US&units=metric&mode=xml
