Forecast Weather Call

Tim Apr 10, 2019 01:17PM BST

Hi,

I have a problem when I call the forecast. When I call the forecast at 12:00 I get the first time at 12:00. When I call the forecast at 13:59 I get the first time at 12:00. However after 14:00 I get the first time at 15:00. I would like to still get the time at 12:00 even if it is 14:59. When it is 15:00, I would like to get the time from 15:00. Is there a specific command for in the API call?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Tim,

Thank you for request.

Does you convert timestamps from UTC timezone to your local one?

Hello,

But if I search the UTC time zone for a few minutes back for example, it was 17:50. The datetime from the OpenWeatherMap however was 18:00, so that is not possible I think? Or is that the predicted? Because logically 2 hours and 59 after the last update, the first value should still be that of 2 hours and 59 minutes back, and not that of the predicted forcast 1 minute from now. Is this the way it is done, so only looking back for the first time of the forecast?

Thanks in advance.

Or is it that the first value is the predicted one over 3 hours, so that the previous weather conditions that were some minutes back is not provided in the forecast and the first one is in 3 hours?

Hello Tim,

Could you please share some examples of outputs in regarding to UTC timestamps?

For your convenience, you can use info@openweathermap.org for e-mails with screenshots and other files.

Hello Pavel,

All UTC times:
11:27 becomes 12:00
11:59 becomes 12:00
12:01 becomes 12:00
12:08 becomes 15:00

But can you confirm that the forecast weather information is only the predicted, so no current or historical data involved? Only the time sample above at 12:01 is a historical one, but that is maybe due to the fact that the system needs some time to refresh?

For clarification, with these time it becomes I mean the first time of the weather information in the 5 days 3 hour forecast.

Hello Tim,

Yes, forecast weather is predicted only. This happens due to caching on free/startup servers, and couple of minutes system may respond with previous data. Like 12:01 becomes 12:00

Hello Pavel,

Thanks for your reply. But one last question, is it also not possible to get the previous data in the forecast weather with the other forecast weather, when changing something in the API code?

Hello Tim,

No, our API automatically flushes old data
